This is a short story and a rather lovely one.There are two sisters -- one is a great beauty and the soul of goodness. The younger sister is unable to use her legs and is apparently passable in looks. The family is wealthy and the older sister possesses a large dowry.
Celia has just turned down a proposal of marriage. Her main reason for doing so is because she will not abandon her sister. Their father virtually ignores the younger daughter and appears embarrassed by her affliction.
The man Celia rejected tells some acquaintances of his failure to win her hand. The gentlemen make a wager on who will win the lady's heart. One of the men is an absolute snake. His interest is in the dowry.
Another of the men is a handsome fellow, and the best friend of the rejected suitor. He thinks he might be falling in love with the beauty himself as he pays court to her. He thinks the way to her heart is through her sister, so he begins giving her more attention.
Kitty finds herself falling for the man even though she knows nothing can come of it. He tries to grant her every wish, and there is so much she thinks she will never be able to do. But he makes so many wishes come true.
There is a kidnapping and the father behaves just horribly.
Love wins out in the end. This is a sweet story and not a complicated one

Can't figure out who was the most unappealing character, hard to tell in a story with no depth and labored dialogue.
This wasn't about Celia, it was about her invalid sister Kitty. The whole story was just random and misleading. At no point does Celia seem interested in Janus until the end when we're told that she is. Overall, dumb.
I liked this story. it was well written without being too graphic. kit made me smile. thanks for writing it.
What a good, clean romance. This story had me cheering for heroes and booing the villains. I highly recommend this read!

This romance that features a handicapped heroine will leave you feeling so good. It is probably not a realistic portrayal of the regent period but it will make you smile.
I've read several stories by Ms. McQueen and have to say that her "Miss Moseley the Matchmaker" is my favorite short story to read. It has wonderful characters, the plot is adorable and there's a great deal of sentiment that is wrapped up in such a short story. I was really hoping for the same in this one and it just fell flat for me.
The main problem I had is that the description would lead the reader to believe that this is about Celia Suffington and Janus Percival, but they play a VERY small part in the overall story. We really don't get a good idea of Celia, her thoughts and dreams, and we REALLY don't get a clear sense of Janus as a person, his motivations, and what makes him tick. The story is 85% about characters that are supposed to be secondary, but aren't. We also don't really get to know them that well either. How was Kitty injured? What's up with the relationship with their father? Could we get a little more background on Riley and Hardgrave? It would have made the story stronger, but instead we got only the briefest of glimpses of each character so the ending is rather lacking yet expected.
If you want to read a truly charming story by Caylen McQueen, pick up Miss Moseley and you won't be disappointed!
